MARC 21 records update now available
MARC 21 records have been updated to reflect new editions and resources added to AccessEmergency Medicine as of October 31st. Please see the right-hand column to download the record file. What's New: November 2011
Removal of the “Print Chapter” view from all medical Access sites
Last week, only a few days after it had posted to AccessMedicine, the newest version of Harrison’s was discovered circulating on a number of digital lockers, torrent sites, and other means of illicit file sharing. A quick examination of the file revealed that the party (or parties) who had created it simply printed every chapter of Harrison’s, “bound” it as an ebook, and started distributing it. Presently, the “Print Chapter” view makes it far too easy to accomplish a task like this.
To address this issue with digital piracy, we will remove the "Print Chapter” option on all Access medical online products. This is scheduled to be effective Thursday, September 1 on AccessMedicine and then to each subsequent site with its next release. We realize this will not stop piracy dead in its tracks. We do hope, however, that it will make it more difficult for those inclined to illegally redistribute our content, while still making our sites easy to use, as users will still be able to print by section.
If you have questions about this change in functionality, please contact your sales representative at digitalsales@mhedu.com.

New Search Engine
We’ve redesigned AccessEmergency Medicine's search functionality and results display as part of our ongoing efforts to bring you the content you need.
Now you’ll enjoy improved full-text search results and drug monograph searching, as well as more control when doing advanced searches.
Users will now see search results grouped by content type on a single page, making it easier to navigate directly into the type of content you most want to see. Groupings include Textbooks and Textbook Updates, Multimedia, Images, Tables, Drug Monographs, Calculators, and for those seeking easily digested bulleted information, the Emergency Medicine Manual.
Both adult and pediatric results will be displayed and users interested in only pediatric content can now filter for pediatric only on the results page.
New Clinical Calculators
We’ve added five new calculators for use by clinicians and residents in the emergency department:
Absolute Neutrophil Count
APACHE II
BEE (Basal Energy Expenditure)
Coronary Heart Disease Risk
