formats for you to choose from: Adobe
Acrobat eBook Reader, Microsoft
Reader, MobiPocket
Reader, and Mobile
Consult.
You should choose your format depending on where you want
to read your eBook (desktop, laptop, or handheld device) and what you
want to do with your eBook file (print, annotate, etc.).
To make your choice easier, we've summarized the hardware
requirements and special features of each format below.

Adobe
Reader 6.0

For use with: Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows ME, Windows NT Workstation
4.0 SP6, Windows 2000 Professional SP2, Windows XP Professional, Home,
or Tablet PC edition. For use with Macintosh OS 10.2.4 or later (note
that Adobe Reader is not compatible with Mac OS 9)

All PC and Mac users who want to read on their desktops.
What you can do with your Adobe eBook file:
McGraw-Hill allows you to print your eBook file. You can also highlight,
bookmark, and annotate your eBook. On some systems, you may be able to
hear your eBooks with a "Read Aloud" feature.
With Adobe Reader, you can view your eBook on one PC or Macintosh and
on one Palm OS device. Adobe is currently investigating the possibility
of expanding the number of devices that can be used to view eBooks.
Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader will create a library on your computer which
will store all of your Adobe eBooks.

Microsoft

For use with Microsoft Windows® 98, NT4 SP6, 2000, XP, and Me
Readable on Pocket PC 2003 devices
Recommended for:
All PC users who want to read on their desktops; all Pocket PC 2003 owners
who want to read on their handhelds.
What you can do with your Microsoft eBook file:
With Microsoft Reader, you can view, highlight, bookmark, and annotate
your eBook. You cannot print files in Microsoft Reader format. You can
also download your eBook to your Pocket PC 2.0 device.
Note that with Microsoft Reader you can download and read your eBook
on up to four different devices.
Microsoft Reader will create a library on your computer which will store
all of your Microsoft Reader eBooks.

Mobipocket
Reader

For use with all handheld devices: PalmOS, Windows CE, PocketPC, SymbianOs,
Franklin eBookMan and Windows
Recommended for:
All PDA owners who want to read their eBooks on their handheld.
What you can do with your MobiPocket file:
With MobiPocket Reader, you can download your eBook directly to your handheld.
You can view, bookmark, highlight, and annotate your eBook file.
MobiPocket will create a MobiPocket Reader Library on your handheld
where you can store all of your MobiPocket eBooks. You are also able to
download eNews and eDocs and store them in your Reader.

Mobile
Consult
Only available for selected medical titles. For use with all PalmOS and
PocketPC devices.
Recommended for:
PDA owners who are looking for specific medical titles.
What you can do with your Mobile Consult file:
You can download your medical eBook directly to your handheld. The medical
content has been optimized for easy use on your handheld (optimal searching,
etc.). |
